Shilajit is a natural resin that forms over very long periods in high mountain rock, largely from slowly decomposed plant matter. Its exact make-up varies with where it is collected and how it is processed, which is why we publish independent laboratory reports for our resin rather than quoting general figures.
What shilajit is made of
Fulvic and humic substances. Organic compounds formed as plant matter breaks down. They make up a large part of the resin and give it its dark colour.
Dibenzo-alpha-pyrones. Organic compounds found alongside the fulvic fraction, and one of the markers researchers use to characterise shilajit.
Minerals and trace elements. Shilajit naturally contains a range of minerals and trace elements. The amounts differ between sources and batches.
Amino acids and other organic compounds. Smaller amounts of amino acids, phenolic acids, terpenoids and other plant-derived compounds.
Check the numbers for our batches
Measured values for our resin, including heavy-metal screening, are in the reports on our Lab Reports page.
Shilajit is sold as a food supplement. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
