Welcome to Shilajit Global's blog. For our first post, let's address some of the most frequently asked questions about shilajit: what it is, how it is used, and how to look after it.
What exactly is shilajit?

Shilajit is a natural substance that forms in high mountain ranges such as the Himalayas. Over centuries, plant materials decompose and are compressed between layers of rock, forming a dense, tar-like resin. It contains fulvic acid and a broad range of naturally occurring trace minerals — the composition of our own resin is shown in the published third-party lab reports. For the fuller answer, read What Is Shilajit?
Why do people take shilajit?
Shilajit has a long history of traditional use in Ayurveda, and that history is why many people are curious about it today. As a UK food supplement we do not make health claims for it. What we can show you is exactly what our resin contains, where it is collected, how it is purified, and the independent test reports for it — so you can make your own informed decision.
How should I use shilajit?

Resin is the traditional form. A pea-sized amount (about 300–500 mg) dissolved in warm water or another drink is a typical serving, taken once or twice daily. Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose on your jar. Full step-by-step instructions are on our How To Take page.
Is shilajit safe for everyone?

Food supplements are not suitable for everyone. Shilajit is not recommended for children, or for pregnant or nursing women. If you have a medical condition or take any medication, consult a healthcare professional before using any dietary supplement, and never stop or change a prescribed medicine except on your doctor's advice. Buy purified, third-party-tested shilajit and check the heavy-metals screening on the supplier's lab report — because shilajit is collected from rock, that screening matters more than any other number.
How do I store shilajit?
Keep your shilajit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If you have the resin form, store it in an airtight container to keep its texture and prevent it drying out.
